Win lunch with Paddy Hopkirk

As part of IAM RoadSmart's campaign to raise awareness of the challenges faced by older drivers, the charity is offering the chance to win an exclusive lunch at Silverstone Circuit with renowned rally and racing driver Paddy Hopkirk MBE.
As IAM RoadSmart Mature Driver Ambassador, Paddy is passionate about keeping older drivers in their cars and driving safely for as long as possible. Supporting the charity's campaign, he said: "As long as drivers ensure their health and ability are up to standard, there is no reason why they cannot continue driving long into later life."
Paddy, 86, is famous for winning the 1964 Monte Carlo and 1967 Acropolis Rallies and raced at the fearsome Le Mans 24 Hours as well as many other circuits around the world. He is also greatly admired for giving up a certain win in the 1968 London-Sydney Marathon when he and his co-driver stopped to rescue a fellow competitor from his burning car.
Regardless of his driving prowess, Paddy has taken steps to ensure his capability to drive safely is maintained by completing IAM RoadSmart's Mature Driver Review. This voluntary session involves an IAM RoadSmart expert going out with a driver in their own car to assess their driving style and to watch out for any areas where skills could do with some sharpening.
The review is informal – candidates can bring a friend to ride along if they like. Ninety per cent of older drivers reviewed by IAM RoadSmart need only some minor guidance to equip them for the road ahead.
After the session, drivers get a verbal report on their skills and a written summary, which includes pointers to improvement and/or suggestions of further action that needs to be taken.
Full details of the IAM RoadSmart Mature Driver Review, which costs £49 for a 60-minute session, can be found at www.iamroadsmart.com/MDR. The charity's guidance for older drivers, including tips and practical advice, is available at www.iamroadsmart.com/olderdrivers.
Anyone buying a Mature Driver Review between 20 November and 18 December 2019 will automatically be entered into IAM RoadSmart's competition* to win one of three available prizes of a three-course lunch for two with Paddy Hopkirk at the British Racing Driver's Club's exclusive Clubhouse, which is usually not open to the public.
